On-Street Winter Parking Restrictions—Important Reminders

In anticipation of the impending snowstorm this weekend, Mundelein Public Works reminds residents of the Village’s winter parking restrictions. During winter storm events that exceed two inches, Mundelein restricts on-street parking. (Village Code-Chapter 10, Art. II). Vehicles found in violation of the ordinance can be ticketed and may be towed.

When vehicles are not on the street, the snow plow drivers are able to effectively conduct salting and plowing operations, making sure the streets are safe for drivers. However, when winter operations drivers encounter situations with cars parked on both sides of the street, it makes their job extremely difficult or even impossible.

Even when the drivers are able to navigate these difficult roadway scenarios, the salt cannot be distributed on the roadway because the salt spreaders stop when the trucks travel slowly. So, not only is there a hazardous situation that could result in damage to Village trucks or the parked vehicle, the snow and ice control operation is compromised, resulting in an unsafe condition for the public.

During the winter months, please avoid parking vehicles on the street during ANY winter storm events. Thank you for your assistance in helping to keep Mundelein streets safe during the winter.
