Public Works Crews Collecting Storm Tree Debris—Important Guidelines to Follow

Mundelein Public Works crews are actively collecting tree debris that fell during the recent winter storm. If you have tree branches in need of collection, please contact Public Works at pw@mundelein.org or call 847-949-3270 and a crew will be dispatched to remove the debris.

Please keep in mind that this special storm collection is ONLY for tree limbs and NOT landscape waste or leaf pick-up. Groot Industries, Mundelein’s contracted waste hauler, is currently conducting the final round of leaf collection from December 4-14 as part of a separate community service program. It is important to keep the leaf collection pile and the branch collection piles separate.

In order to keep to ensure the success of this special collection, please abide by the following guidelines:

• Crews cannot chip branches greater than 18 inches in diameter. Please contact a tree contractor to address any downed trees or limbs greater than 18 inches. Please contact Public Works and Engineering for a list of vendors.
• Place the cut end of the limb towards the street when bringing to the parkway.
• Place the limbs 2 feet away from the back of the curb or edge of pavement so traffic lanes are not impacted and snow plows can access the area if necessary.
• Do not place limbs across sidewalks or paths. Position branches in the parkway so that they do not impact the pedestrian walkways.

Thank you, in advance for your cooperation.
