Park District Earns 2018 “Exceptional Workplace Award”

Mundelein Park & Recreation District has earned the Illinois Park & Recreation Association’s “Exceptional Workplace Award”” for 2018. The honor recognizes agencies for their efforts to improve and support employee health and wellness. Agencies undergo a voluntary evaluation process to demonstrate that they have met guidelines to provide employees with the opportunity for a well-balanced life both at the workplace and away.

“Mundelein Park & Recreation District takes pride in the variety of opportunities offered residents and guests to be active, healthy, and fit. We also make this a priority for our workforce, one of our greatest assets,” said Margaret Resnick, Mundelein Park District Executive Director. “Even though we are a mid-size agency, we consider our staff as family. We care about what happens to each other and truly watch out for each other.”

Mundelein Park District will receive the Exceptional Workplace Award at the Illinois Association of Park Districts/Illinois Park & Recreation Association Soaring to New Heights Conference in January 2019.

The District’s workforce grows substantially during the summer season and will be hosting a free Summer Job Fair on January 4, 2019 at the Community Center (1401 N. Midlothian Road)
from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for open part-time and seasonal positions throughout the district. Positions to be filled include: lifeguards, swim instructors, cashiers, concessions, maintenance, camp counselors, and laborers.

“We will growing our ‘family’ by over 200 positions at the indoor pool, Barefoot Bay Family Aquatic Center, Diamond Lake Beach, Day Camp, Teen Camp, Parks Department and Steeple Chase Golf Club,” said Resnick. “The Exceptional Workplace Award illustrates what a great opportunity this would be for high school, college students, retirees and any adults looking for supplemental income.”

The job fair will give potential applicants the opportunity to speak with hiring managers, learn about open positions, and submit an application onsite. Applicants must be 16 and older, with some positions requiring a minimum age of 18. Pizza will be provided and attendees submitting an application at the fair will receive a free day pass to Park View Fitness. Interviews will be conducted in March-April 2019.
