Mundelein Police Department to Host Popular Cops N’ Bobbers Fishing Derby

The Mundelein Police Department’s 22nd Annual Cops ‘N’ Bobbers fishing derby is scheduled to be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 8 a.m. until Noon at the Mundelein Seminary – 1000 East Maple Avenue. Parents bring your kids ages 5 – 13 and their fishing poles and spend the morning fishing in a lake on the seminary property and having fun as a family. The derby is a great chance for families to have an enjoyable day interacting with Mundelein Police Department officers.

The lake will be stocked with sun fish and a limited amount of bait provided, participants are encouraged to bring their own. Adults will be required to have a fishing license if they are fishing. Children under 16 are not required to have a license per the ILDNR. Adults may assist their child without a license. The ILDNR will have a few fishing poles on hand for those who do not have a pole of their own.

Additionally, there will be a raffle drawing and prizes for the biggest fish, smallest fish and the most fish caught. The event is free and the first 100 children will get a free t-shirt.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed in the Seminary so feel free to bring a picnic lunch. An adult must accompany all participants.

If you would like more information or to volunteer for this event please contact Officer Rachel Messina at 847-968-4600 or visit www.mundelein.org/police.
