Kirk Players to Host FREE Children’s, Adult Summer Theater Workshops

Mundelein Kirk Players is pleased to host its annual Free Summer Children’s and Adult Theatre Workshops June 10- July 29. Children, ages 5-12, are welcome to participate in professional actor-led theatre games, improvisational exercises, and scene development on Mondays from 6 p.m.-7 p.m.

The Adult Workshop, ages 13 and up, will run from 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. on Monday evenings, and focus on classical American playwright scenes in plays such as Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie and William Inge’s Picnic.

“These playwrights helped to usher in a period of modern American realism that will serve as the backdrop for scene development,” said Jon Lynn, Artistic Director for Kirk Players. The focus will embrace other influential playwrights of the period, including Eugene O’Neil, Clifford Odets, Arthur Miller, Lillian Hellman and Neil Simon.

“We encourage our adult participants to bring a favorite scene of one of these playwrights to work on during the six-week course,” said Gretchen Grassl, Adult Workshop Director. “We also plan to weave in a segment entitled, 12 Guideposts, based on Michael Shurtleff’s, “Audition,” which we think our adult students will find very useful!”

Registration for the Adult and Children’s Free Summer Workshops will take place on Monday, June 10. For more information, please visit: www.kirkplayers.org
